Questa famiglia trae le sue origini dagli antichi Re Goti, e prese nome dai Castelli di Urrióls nella Spagna e fu detta di Urrióls o Orrióls. Siffatta origine é dimostrata anche da un diploma del Re Alfonso I d'Aragona che riferivasi ad antiche scritture, dato a Capua il 20 giugno 1442, nel quale volendo il Re rimunerare Berengario d'Orioles Barone di Sanpiero e suo Camerario, lo crea Milite Regio nobile Aurato, e ricorda come egli discendesse da Giovanni Berengario O. fratello di Bernardo Principe di Catalogna e Conte di Barcellona, il quale era del Regio Sangue dei Goti. Fu portata in Sicilia da Berengario d'O. che accompagnó Re Pietro d'Aragona nell'anno 1282 dopo il famoso Vespro. Ha goduto nobiltá nella cittá di Palermo, Messina, Noto, Taormina e nella Spagna. Ha vestito l'Abito di Malta, e fu insignita degli Ordini Gerosolimitani e d'Alcantara, e del Toson d'Oro. Il ceppo della famigla
