Essa família é originária dos antigos reis godos e recebeu o nome dos castelos de Urrióls na Espanha e foi chamada de Urrióls ou Orrióls. Essa origem também é demonstrada por um diploma do rei Alfonso I de Aragão, que se refere a escritos antigos, entregues a Cápua em 20 de junho de 1442, na qual, querendo que o rei recompense Berengario d'Orioles, barão de Sanpiero e seu camarista, ele o cria Milite Regio nobre Aurato, e se lembra de como ele descendia de Giovanni Berengario O. irmão de Bernardo Príncipe da Catalunha e Conde de Barcelona, que era do Sangue Real dos Godos.
