Originaria di Salerno, e di condizione assai modesta, fu trapiantata in Napoli da Girolamo di Domenico nella prima metà del XVII secolo. Coll'esercizio dell'avvocatura egli potè acquistare grandi ricchezze che gli permisero di comprare per 120 mila scudi la terra di Mirabella sulla quale nel 1633 ottenne dal re di Napoli il titolo di marchese, e quella pur anco di Castelfranco, dopo di che ottenne insieme ai suoi discendenti di essere aggregato alla nobiltà di Salerno sua patria nel seggio di Campo. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio. Quel che però di certo habbiamo, è che la casata per la loro antichità, e splendore, e per virtù militare, carrichi così laicali, come Ecclesiastici, e per ogno altro
