Ancient and noble family originally from Bologna. The commendator GB of Crollalanza reports the blazon of this family in the volumes of his historical blazon dictionary of the noble and notable Italian families. Many families placed their home in Bologna, because in the more remote times it was considered famous among the Republics, for the value of its Captains, for the doctrine of its Jurisconsults, for the many Rectors of different cities, and for the authority of his Magistrates. The memories of some families which are conserved with adventurous adventures, and which in ancient times co-operated with her splendor; and although the time of destruction completely has between the ruins, fires of the Archives in different conjunctures, and for the civil discord, and for the invasion of the barbarians consumed largely the writings before 1260, however the family has nevertheless diligently preserved several parchments, and treaties belonging to this house
