Dalla reale stirpe d'Angiò discende la famiglia A. giacchè Alfonso A. Angiò Duca di Poatù Pittiersi et Aquitania venne nel Regno di Napoli con Carlo I d'Angiò, e distaccato con un Corpo d'Armata in Tropea, qui prese in moglie una dama tropeana contro la volontà, dello zio Re Carlo, del quale cadde in disgrazia, onde trasse meschina vita. Procreò Norrandino e questi Mirmirano ed amendue ebbero dal Re Carlo II e da Roberto I varie concessioni lucrose e lettere piene di affetto, ma non messi in grado da far risplendere l'alto legnaggio donde discendevano. Fu questa famiglia sempre composta di poche persone e finì di tutto nel 1888 con la morte di Francesco; il quale pria di morire nella grave età di 85 anni adottò per figliuolo il nipote Antonio Barone, figlio di una sorella con l'obbligo di aggiungere al proprio il cognome A. Ebbe questa famiglia varii illustri personaggi
