Urraca Mendes, da linhagem dos Braganções, vários filhos de um dos quais provieram os Freitas, e D. Soeiro Dias, marido de D. Sancha Pires, filha de Pedro Soares e de D. Gontinha Pais, de cujo matrimónio nasceram alguns filhos havendo ele, de outra mulher, a Pedro Soares. Este Pedro Soares casou-se na Estremadura e teve um filho chamado Abril Pires pai de Afonso Pires, pai de Afonso Pires V., de quem descendem os que usam este apelido originário de alcunha.
