Apellido castellano. Probó su nobleza numerasas veces en las Ordenes de Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara, Carlos III y San Juan de Jerusalén, así como en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid. Don Francisco de V., Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, fue Corregidor de Gran Canaria y en septiembre de 1737 tomó posesión de igual cargo en Tenerife y La Palma. Don Fernando de V. fue creado Marqués de Villasierra en 1677; Don Juan de V. Venegas, Conde de Val del Aguila, en 1690, y Don Alonso Eduardo de V., Marqués del Puente de la Virgen, 1761. Son sus armas: en campo de plata, un león rampante, de sable, coronado de lo mismo. Algunos añaden bordura componada de ocho piezas, cuatro de plata y cuatro de gules, siendo el primero que la úso Lópe Sánchez de V., por habérsela concedido Don Ruy López de Dávalos, condestable de Castilla, por los grande servicios
