Pietro, nipote del pontefice Sisto IV, fu creato Vescovo di Carpentras nel Venessino nel 1483 e morì a Roma nel 1517. Egli apparteneva ad un'antica famiglia savonese, trapiantata più tardi a Genova, dove egli nacque, e di cui faceva parte Antonio Vescovo di Brugnato. Poche sono le città, che vantino famiglie nobili si antiche come quelle in Genova, poichè malgrado le vicende dei tempi essa conta ancora nel suo seno molte famiglie che provano la loro genealogia da padre in figlio mercè gli atti notarili dalla metà del XII secolo fino a' giorni nostri, vale a dire da un'epoca che serva di barriera a quasi tutte le famiglie d'Europa. Ma se ci mancono i rogiti anteriori a quelli di Giovanni Scriba dell'anno 1150, e di Lanfranco Lotaro del 1180, onde accrescere più gradi di nobiltà di questa famiglia, gli stessi atti però ci somministrano una prova evidente di un'antichità molto
