Antica fam. del Comitato Vicentino. Non curando le origini favolose, la troviamo nominata nei documenti vicentini nella prima metà del sec. XI. In possesso da antichissimo tempo del castello di Valmarana, sempre ne riportò le investiture dal Vescovo Comes. Il potere vicecomitale fece usare a questa fam. da tempo assai remoto il titolo di conte e l'imper. Carlo V, con suo amplissimo Diploma 30 aprile 1540, eresse in contea il loro possedimento di Nogara. Il titolo di conte, usato nell'esercizio delle funzioni feudali, fu riconosciuto dalla Repubblica Veneta per terminazione del Magistrato sui feudi in data 27 febbr. 1729. Un ramo, fu aggregato al patriziato veneto nel 1658 ed alevato al rango di conte dall'Impero Austriaco. Fu ammessa sin da remotissimo tempo al nobile Consiglio di Vicenza nel quale, nel 1510, aveva 15 posti. Diede uomini eccellenti nelle armi e nelle civili discipline. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare
