Di questa antica famiglia il cavaliere Jacovacci ci ha lasciato moltissime memorie, tante da potersene compilare una genalogia continuata dal 1365 al 1598. Il primo personaggio da lui ricordato è Paulus Cecchi Valoni (rog. Agostino Gaioli, 31 agosto 1365). I Valoni avevano il loro antico sepolcro in Santa Maria in Publiculis. Nel XV secolo i Valoni figurano col titolo di Nobilis e di Dominis. Parecchi furono guardiani della Confraternita di S. Salvatore. L'ultimo atto riportatao dal cavaliere Jacovacci, è un rogito del primo aprile 1598, nel quale figurano i nobili Jacopo, Gabriele e Domenico, fratelli, figli del fu Giovanni Valoni. L'arma della famiglia è la seguente: spaccato di rosso e d'argento a tre rose dell'uno all'altro. Altro ramo. L'opera intitolata "La storia delle Famiglie Romane" di Teodoro Amayden, parla della illustre famiglia Valoni, originaria del Lazio, che godette nobiltà nella città di Roma. La famiglia levò la seguente Arma: Inquartato;
