Illustre famiglia originaria di Spagna, aggregata al Patriziato napolitano del Seggio di Nido. Venne ricevuta nel S.M.O. di Malta nel 1571. Possedette nel Napolitano numerosi feudi e fu insignita del Grandato di Spagna, del Toson d'Oro e dei Grandi Uffici del Regno di Gran Camerario e di Gran Contestabile. Altro ramo. Di origine spagnuola, venuta nel regno di Napoli con Alfonso I di Aragona. Ebbe nobiltà in Napoli al Seggio di Nido, in Benevento e in Palermo. Fu signora di 58 baronie, di 5 marchesati, di 3 ducati, e di 7 principati. Ottenne anche il titolo di Principe del S. R. Impero. Ferrante vicerè di Sicilia nel 1568; Indico e Gaspare Cardinali di S. R. Chiesa e Francesco Ferdinando stratigò di Sicilia nel 1570. Per 195 anni ebbe questa casa la carica di gran Cameriengo, ed il privilegio della zecca. Motto della famiglia: Finiunt pariter renovantque labores. Altro ramo.
