Della fazione lambertazza, si trovano nominati la prima volta del 1207. Dal 1257 in poi furono 175 volte degli anziani, cominciarono ad avere il grado senatorio nel 1483, sostennero ambascerie e militarono con molta gloria. Ebbero titolo di conte e di marchese nel XVII secolo, e tennero a lungo la rettoria dello spedale e del pinte di Reno, il qual ponte assunsero nello stemma gentilizio. Nell'Apr. 1762 i marchesi Agostino e Ferdinando chiesero ed ottennero la cittadinanza mantovana. Nel 1622, essendosi estinta nella loro la famiglia Duglioli, i M. ne ereditarono il nome e le sostanze.
