Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Jean, seigneur de la Clarté, ratifia le traité de Guérande en 1381, et fut marié en 1391 à Marguerite Rogier de Beaufort; Jean, conseiller du duc Jean Ven 1404; Auffroy et François son neveu, abbés de Saint-Aubin des Bois de 1509 à 1532; Olivier, panetier ordinaire de la reine Anne en 1513; Bertand, vivant en 1586, épouse: Vincente de Clairefontaine, dont Pierre, auteur des seigneur de la Morandaye; Marie Malenfant, mère de Jean, président aux enquêtes en 1619, qui, de Claude le Marchant, laissa entre autres enfants; Louise, dame de Clayes, mariée à Jean Nicolas, seigneur de Champgérault, autorisé par lettres de 1626 à prendre les nom et armes de sa femme. La branche de Coësmes fondue en 1377 dans Maillé; la branche de Fouësnel fondue vers 1493 dans de Poix; la branche de Montbouan fondue en 1615 dans Langan.
