Fino dal 1142 si à memoria di un Ceba console dei Placiti, la qual carica ottennero altri della stessa famiglia. Antonio nel 1593 e Lazzaro nel 1507 dogi. Ansaldo e Rinaldo intervennero al giuramento di pace fra Genovesi e Pisani; Tomaso capitano di tre navi e due galee per soccorso di Scio. Nel 1448 fu aggregata all'Albergo dei Grimaldi. Nelle ricerche bibliografiche di questa famiglia, vari sono stati gli autori che ne hanno fatto menzione. G. A. Ascheri, nell'opera da lui intrapresa e eseguita "Notizie storiche intorno delle famiglie in Alberghi in Genova, stampato in Genova dal Faziola nel 1846", sia di origine italiana, passata in Genova, tra il XV e XVII secolo. Poche sono le città, che vantino famiglie nobili si antiche come quelle in Liguria, poichè malgrado le vicende dei tempi essa conta ancora nel suo seno molte famiglie che provano la loro genealogia da padre in figlio
