La famiglia aveva, nel '600, a Venezia, varie ramificazioni nelle industrie e nei commerci. Proveniente da una vallata bergamasca o da una villa bresciana, venne a Venezia con un Lodovico e si collocò alle dipendenze di Bortolo, ricco negoziante di pellami in calle del Perdon, a Sant'Apollinare. Bortolo morì il 23 agosto 1667 e lasciò alla tutela del giovane bergamasco l'unico suo figlio Venturin ed il negozio nel quale il Lodovico aumentò i propri capitali, sulla rovina del pupillo. Questo, educato in altra condizioni si abbandonò ai piaceri, poscia si fece abate e si trasferì a Roma, dove vivendo da gran signore diminuì in breve le sue ricchezze. Intanto l'astuto tutore approfittò dell'occasione favorevole, rimanendo padrone assoluto del negozio e, dopo aver fatto conoscere all'abate che il residuo dei suoi capitali era agli sgoccioli, addivenne ad un definitivo accomodamento: tutto passò in proprietà dell'antico garzone, ed il povero abate morì
