Sono un ramo delli Normanni ed usano l'arme antica, che si vede sopra una lapide sepolcrale antica senza millesimo nella Chiesa di S. Martino de Monti con l'arme a capo e lettere intorno. Nella chiesa di S. Maria in Aquiro lapide sepolcrale con due figure di giovanetti togati all'antica con lettere intorno. L'Infessura nel suo Diario riferisce il fine infelice di questa nobile famiglia. Delli Veranieri, la qual famiglia è totalmente estinta, ultimo fu un Poncello di Pietro, uomo strenuo ed animoso, il quale mentre Roma al tempo di Eugenio IV si vendicò in libertà, fu fatto Capitano della Guardia in Campidoglio, e tenne prigione il Vice cancelliere, quale si chiamava Francesco Condolmieri Cardinale, e Nipote di Papa Eugenio. Poi ritornando Roma in potestà di Eugenio, ed essendo poi in essa Giovanni Vitellesco uomo sanguinario e crudelissimo, venne questo Poncello con parecchi forastieri, e con certa compagnia di fanti, e
