Trae questa famiglia le sue origini da Biella e fu nobilitata in persona dell'avvocato e vice intendente di Biella Carlo Vincenzo (dec. 4 gennaio 1811), dell'avv. Domenico, che fu infeudato di Pettinengo il 13 luglio 1784 e investito col titolo comitale il 6 successivo novembre. Carlo Vincenzo sposò (1764) Isabella Delfina del barone Pietro Giuseppe Mondella da Biella ed ebbe numerosi figli, tra i quali l'avvocato Luigi, che dalle sue nozze con Teresa Avogadro di Valdengo ebbe Carlo (dec. Reggio Emilia 11 aprile 1894), che fu intendente di finanza a Ravenna e Reggio Emilia, e Secondo Luigi (n. a Biella 10 giugno 1830 dec. Ospedaletti 23 marzo 1907) che fu tenente generale e aiutante di campo onorario del Re. Continuò la linea primogenita Francesco Domenico Vincenzo Felice (n. a Biella 11 febbraio 1767 dec. a Napoli 14 aprile 1847), che fu prima giudice di Mongrando e di Carmagnola, poi assessore
