Family ascribed to Monte del Gentiluomo and originally, it seems, from Asciano; they had a burial and chapel in the church of S. Agostino. they were not admitted to public offices until 1351, when Andrea, from Ventura, was part of the councils of the municipality of Siena; in March 1364 he was captain of the people. His son Ventura went in 1369 ambassador to Arezzo, to divert them from the company against Lucignano. Agnolo, of Ventura, resided in 1400, and Giovanni, of Agnolo, in 1483. Paolo, of Mariano, was supervisor of Biccherna in 1499; Giacomo, his brother, supported Pandolfo Petrucci when he affirmed his lordship in Siena. Scipione was rector of the hospital of the Scala in 1522. Pompey, a knight, was killed in 1545 in a fight with other Sienese nobles; Fausto participated in the Prospero Colonna enterprise which freed Malta from the attack by the Turks. Antonio was captain of the third of the city during the defense of Siena in 1553; participated in the liberation of Montalcino from the siege placed by Don Pietro of Toledo, and died in 1554, in a sortie made by the Sienese besieged by imperial armies. Girolamo, d'Alfonso, and his son Annibale, were knights of S. Stefano in 1562; Hannibal was later a great conservator of the Order. It is registered in the Official Italian Noble List with the title of patrician of Siena (mf.), And is represented by: Augusto, di Angiolo Andrea, di Giuseppe.
