Famiglia originaria da Venosa, feudataria, ed aggregata al primo Ordine Civico della città di Matera in Basilicata, che venne ricevuta nel S.M. Ordine di Malta, dal 1710, con Fabio di Matera (Arch. Ordine Malta 4894-4895); nel 1714 come quarto della famiglia Carducci (Archivio di Stato, Napoli vol. 37, Priorato di Barletta); nel 1745 come quarto della famiglia Lamberti (Arch. Ordine di Malta, 4405); e nel ramo di Barletta nel 1757 come quarto del cavaliere Saverio Pappalettere (Arch. Ord. malta 4590). Fu decorata del titolo di marchese di Turi (provincia di Bari) dal 28 agosto 1797. Venne riconosciuta di nobiltà generosa dalla R. Commissione dei Titoli del Regno delle Due Sicilie, nel 1839 e nel 1843, in occasione della pruova per ammissione nelle Reali Guardie del Corpo (R. Archivio di Stato, Napoli, Verbali vol. I e vol. II). La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare
