Famiglia antica oriunda da Asti. Giovanni Antonio, cittadino astigliano, che era maggiordomo di Sua Altezza, e che consegnò l'arma gentilizia nel 1614, ottenne con Patenti del 27 maggio 1625 l'erezione in titolo comitale di Costigliole, di cui fu investito il 21 giugno 1634. Sposò Ottavia di Aurelio Asinari, la quale era erede di porzioni di Costigliole, e il figlio nato da queste nozze, Aurelio, aggiunse al proprio il cognome materno. Girolamo Alessandro, di Aurelio, sposò Anna di Valgrana e procreò Giovanni Secondo e venne investito di Castiglione Tinella il 12 giugno 1699 e il 14 luglio 1733. Dalle nozze di costui con Margherita del conte Gio. Michele Piossasco di None, ebbe per figli, fra gli altri, Girolamo Alessandro (nato a Torino 5 marzo 1701, defunto ivi 12 dicembre 1775) che fu gentiluomo di bocca.
