Familia palermitana, del siglo XIV y que quiere ser de origen español y luego se mudó a Nápoles en Sicilia desde 1381 y se estableció en Palermo con un Francesco. El emperador Carlos IV con diploma el 30 de diciembre de 1724 creó a los duques de Craco y el rey Ferdinando III con R. Assenso el 27 de octubre de 1780 transfirió el título de marqués ya impuesto al feudo de Comignano en Terra di Lavoro sobre el del mismo nombre en Abruzzo Ultra. Con DM de diciembre de 1875, Fortunato fue reconocido en los títulos de Duque de Craco y Marqués de Comignano transmisibles en línea a los descendientes y con el orden de derecho de nacimiento y con la prerrogativa del sexo, como descendiente de Francesco, el último poseedor de los feudos antes mencionados.
