Antiga e muito nobre família piemontesa adornada com o título de condes de Villar espalhou-se, ao longo dos séculos, por várias regiões da Itália. A presença do brasão com o brasão e o lema na bibliografia documentada da família confirma a nobreza ancestral da família. De facto, a origem do lema remonta a cerca do século XIV e deve ser procurada naqueles ditos espirituosos que se inscreviam nos estandartes ou bandeiras dos cavaleiros, expostos nas janelas das estalagens em que se hospedavam, por ocasião de torneios, e durante os próprios torneios.
