Segundo algumas reconstruções heráldicas, a família Veschi seria da mesma agnação dos Vesc, nobres franceses do Dauphiné, antiga província francesa correspondente aproximadamente aos atuais departamentos de Isère e Drôme, titulados como Duques de Nole, Condes de Ascoli e Barões de Châteaurenard. O personagem mais famoso da família Vesc foi certamente Étienne de Vesc (ca 1445 - 6 de outubro de 1501), um homem da corte de Luís XI que teve uma influência muito forte sobre Carlos VIII e que teve um papel extremamente importante na experiência francesa na Itália na Guerra Italiana de 1494, ou a Guerra Italiana de Carlos VIII, a fase de abertura das Guerras Italianas do século XVI. Provavelmente foi nesse período que um ramo da família passou a residir na Itália, italizando seu sobrenome. Havia um assentamento conspícuo no território toscano.
