Famille reconnue dans sa noblesse depuis l'année 1586, seigneur féodal de S. Mauro del Cilento, dont il avait le dernier titre le 5 novembre 1802 avec Francesco, pour l'avoir acheté avec l'assentiment royal de Tommaso et d'autres Piccirilli succédé, ceux-ci, à Giovanna Spada, marquise de S. Giovanni in Frosolone, en Molise. La famille Spada entra en possession de la terre de S. Mauro en achetant la famille Gagliani en 1722, qui le 1er octobre 1687 y avait obtenu le titre de marquis. De Francesco, président de la Regia Camera della Sommaria, était le fils Nicola (né le 15 juillet 1791), père à son tour d'un deuxième Francesco (né le 20 septembre 1832), qui avait un deuxième Nicola de sa femme Laura Caracciolo di Capriglia, non.
