Originally from Diano Castello in Liguria, she moved to Genoa in the 12th century. His progenitor was an Ansaldo, who occupied the primary magistracies of the Republic, living in 1197. Benedetto in 1428 was sent podestà to Pera, in 1440 he entered the hotel of the Franchi; Giacomo of the elderly in 1470, and another Benedict was also of the elderly of the Republic. In the early sixteenth century the Viale family split into two branches, one of which, founded by Agostino, continued its lineage until the mid-eighteenth century, the other, founded by his brother Giovanni, was returned in the beginning of the 16th century in Diano Castello. The Genoa branch gave the Church two bishops, Antonio di Asti, and then transferred in 1386 to the seat of Savona, and Vincenzo succeeded his uncle in this same seat in 1443.
