Ancienne et noble famille toscane ainsi appelée du château du même nom dont elle est issue, avec des souvenirs depuis le XIIIe siècle avec un Tancredi était des prieurs en 1304. En consultant divers écrivains, ils disent que cette famille est originaire de Toscane, comme attesté par l'historien Giuliani Tiribelli dans son "Résumé historique des célèbres familles toscanes, révisé par le chevalier Luigi Passerini", publié à Florence en 1862. La famille vivait à Florence. Commendatore GB di Crollalanza, dans son ouvrage "le Dictionnaire historique-blasonique, un ouvrage qui, en plusieurs décennies et avec l'aide d'autres historiens, a retracé sa véritable existence sur la base de documents et de recherches menées au cours des siècles passés. La famille Vicchio est blasonnée : Spaccato d'azzurro, au chevreuil doré, et à l'or, vajato di nero.
