Antiga família da Bretanha. Jean-Baptiste, advogado do rei na presidência de Vannes, enobrecido em 1698. Os cavaleiros dessa família participaram, no período de onze séculos, durante o qual a Bretanha era governada por príncipes soberanos, nas guerras com a França e a Inglaterra. . As forças militares bretãs consistiam principalmente em sua cavalaria, à qual se juntavam alguns homens de pé levantados nas paróquias; mas após cada campanha, todos voltaram para suas casas até uma nova convocação ou próxima proibição. Vários cavaleiros dessa família eram "bandeirolas", ou seja, cavaleiros que possuíam castellany, e suficientemente poderosos para manter às suas custas uma companhia composta por outros homens de armas e seu séquito, formando uma força de pelo menos vinte e cinco cavalos.
