Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Suhart, juveigneur de la Roche, vivant en 1240, père de Geoffroi, priseur au traité de mariage d'Agnès d'Avaugour en 1288; Macé, croisé en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Guillaume, fils de Geoffroi, qui précéde, panetier de Philippe de Valois en 1338, épouse Olive Visdelou, dont: Eon, marié à Jeanne de Plestan, qui ratifie le traité de Guérande en 1381; un conseiller au parlement en 1731; un maréchal de camp en 1748; un aide-major gardecôtes au combat de Saint-Cast en 1758; un président à mortier en 1775; deux filles à Saint-Cyr en 1780; quatre membres fusillés à Quiberon en 1795. La branche du Rumen, de Coëtanfao et de Penhoët fondue vers 1774 dans Polignac, en Saintonge.
