Famiglia cagliaritana le cui notizie risalgono al secolo XV. Nel 1417 un dottor Raimondo ebbe in feudo Solaner nel capo di Cagliari; successivamente i Vidal espressero alcuni distinti personaggi. Della famiglia non si hanno più notizie dal secolo XVII. Altro ramo. Questa famiglia ha lontane ramificazioni nella costa Dalmata e verso l'Albania. Col progredire degli anni i popoli dell'altra sponda del mare Adriatico incontrarono rapporti con gli abitanti delle isolette veneziane. Alcuni si stabilirono in quelle velme, si dedicarono nei commerci, presero parte alle vicende politiche, ed in seguito ebbero titoli nobiliari. Fra i V. di quei tempi vi era il prete notaio Giovanni; di un Filippo è fatta annotazione del Liber Plegiorum (secolo XIII.o) come mallevadore. Pure notaio era nel 1275 il diacono di S. Raffaele V. Giacomo, come rilevasi nell'unica pergamena che si conserva di lui nell'Archivio di Stato. Un ramo dei V. fu escluso dal patriziato alla
