Familia noble y muy antigua, nacida en Bagnolo. Giambattista Viglietti, fue abogado fiscal allí en 1727; su sobrino, Giambattista también, hijo del notario Matteo, era notario en Bagnolo y era alcalde de Cervere. Matteo nació de Giambattista, quien ocupó el cargo de abogado fiscal, prefecto y el 26 de diciembre de 1825 fue nombrado senador del Piamonte. El 4 de febrero de 1840 se le otorgó el título de conde.
