Antica ed illustre, fregiata di nobiltà fin dall'epoca in cui Padova si reggeva a repubblica. Seguita nel 1626 la riforma del Consiglio nobile di quella città, essa vi fu ascritta, e più tardi, nel 1757, fu pure aggregata, con tutta la discendenza di ambo i sessi, alla nobiltà di Bologna. Nel 1688 le fu conferito in perpetuo il titolo di conte da Massimiliano-Emanuele Duca di Baviera. Alessandro Vigodarzere vestì l'abito di Malta di cui fu ammiraglio e gran priore di Messina. Fu confermata nella sua nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 14 maggio 1819.
