Famiglia catalana un cui ramo si trasferì in Sardegna nel secolo XV. Nel 1468 un Giovanni, ammiraglio reale, ebbe in feudo Bosa, la Planargia e l'incontrada di Oppia in ricompensa dei suoi servizi. I Vilamari parteciparono ai parlamenti dal 1481 al 1504. Estintasi la sua discendenza maschile, nella prima metà del secolo XVI, sua nipote Isabella cominciò a vendere i feudi; nel 1547 vendette l'incontrada di Oppia ai Virde; nel 1554 la Planargia ai Simò, mentre Bosa riscattò la propria dipendenza feudale. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio. Quel che però di certo habbiamo, è che la casata per la loro antichità, e splendore, e per virtù militare, carrichi così laicali, come Ecclesiastici, e per ogno altro
