Tra l'antiche famiglie Nobili della Lombardia, visse sempre celebre la famiglia, havendo partoriti in ogni tempo gloriosi soggetti nell'armi, e nelle lettere. Scrive Fr. Simone di Leontino Vescovo di Siracusa nella sua historia di Sicilia, ch'ella habbi passata da Lombardia in Sicilia con una Colonia di Lombardi, nel tempo che il Conte Ruggiero Normando guerreggiava, contro i Mori in Sicilia, i quali furono fundatori della Città di Piazza, e Terra d'Aydone. Il cui primo fù Aldoino V., che si stabilì nobilmente nel 1080 del Signore in quella Città, che fin'hora i Cittadini di quella conservano l'antica Lingua Lombarda. Da questo Aldoino ne prevenne Bernardo, che fù valoroso Barone, e Governantor della Città di Piazza sotto il Rè Ruggieo, così pur suo figlio Pericone sotto il Rè Tancredo il quale procreò Bernardo, Aldoino e Desiderio, tutti soggetti stimatissimi dall'Imperator Federico II Rè di Sicilia. Da costoro ne pervenne un'altro Pericono V.,
