Apellido andaluz. Procede de Vílchez, partido judicial de La Carolina en la provincia de Jaén. Desciende de un Caballero que se distinguió en la conquista de la fortaleza y castillo de V., a quien el Rey Don Alfonso IX concedió el escudo de armas que abajo se indica. Caballeros de este linaje probaron su nobleza en la Orden de Santiago y Real Maestranza de Zaragoza. Don Gonzalo José de V. y Parga Ruiz Saavedra Puga y Miranda fue creado Conde de V., con el Vizcondado previo de la Cervanta, el 8 de diciembre de 1848. Otra casa muy antigua. Diego de V., natural de Antequera, soltero, hijo de Alonso Sánchez y de Catalina de V., emprendió viaje desde Sevilla a Perú para hacerse cargo de la herencia de su tío muerto sin descendencia el 2 noviembre 1578, partió el 15 enero 1579 y una vez en su destino participó en la política y ocupó el cargo de Capitán de guardia acumulando una fortuna mayor de la de su tío, murió nueve años después víctima del mal de miserere (apendicitis) dejando tres hijos todos reconocidos en su testamento.
