Noble Paduan family, who was transplanted to Ferrara in the fifteenth century by Lancelotto, a man of distinct merit, who dedicated himself to the services of the Marquis Niccolo III. The family, in the seventeenth century, became one of the most illustrious of the place, very fruitful of great men in military matters. Agostino, of the late Lancelotto, was raised by the said Marquis Niccolò III, to the rank of his secret Counselor and Secretary, contributing a lot to the good regency of the Government, so much so that he was confirmed in the same positions also by the successor of Niccolò III. He then went ambassador to King Alfonso of Aragon to discuss the marriage of his daughter D. Maria with med. March. Leonello. When the March. Borso, after the death of his brother, took over the government, he was Judge six Savi and as head of the Pubb.
