Com base em referências de historiadores da época e outros encontrados por Araldis nos arquivos de registro de cidades e outros particulares, poderíamos afirmar, mas não garantir, que este escudo ou outro muito semelhante a ele apareceu inicialmente entre os dias 11 e 14 século, particularmente na batalha de Las Navas, acompanhando o ilustre arcebispo Rodrigo Jimenez de Rada no assalto final e diz-se que um membro desta família é quem se apropriou da famosa tapeçaria que costuma ser chamada de "bandeira das Navas" . As referências desta família parecem ser especificadas com mais frequência do século XV ao XIX, especialmente os fatos da negociação com os franceses do Tratado dos Pirineus em 7 de novembro de 1659, e especialmente na delimitação exata da fronteira com Catalunha e França.
