Nobile famiglia, originaria dalla Francia e propriamente dalla Lorena. Prese il nome dalla Signoria de la Ville sur Illon, presso Mirecourt. Scrive di questa famiglia Saint Alleis, nel Nobiliaire de France 1876, nominando Jean o Janin, come primo signore de Ville, cavaliere, vivente nel 1149, ricordato pure dall'Abate di Verdun nel suo Cartulaire, art. 38. Un ramo di questa famiglia si portò in Italia con Savary de la Ville sur Illon, secondo figliuolo di Gilberto, e si stabilì a Quiners, in Piemonte. Ivi contrasse nobili parentele, e fu ricevuto nel S.M. Ordine di Malta; ebbe cavalieri nell'Ordine di San Maurizio ed un vescovo d'Ivrea. Si divise in tre linee principali: quella di Alsazia e di Napoli discende da Andrea, terzo del nome, conte de Ville, secondo figlio di Antonio (1530). Ed in Napoli si distinse Alessandro Francesco, conte de la Ville sur Illon, colonnello al seguito del re di Napoli,

Inquartato: nel primo d'oro alla banda di rosso, carica di tre aquilotti di argento ed attraversata da un lambello di azzurro; nel secondo di rosso all'aquila d'argento, coronata d'oro; nel terzo bandato d'azzurro e d'oro, con la bordatura di rosso e il quartier franco d'argento; nel quarto d'oro alla banda di rosso, carica di tre aquilotti d'argento; sul tutto d'oro alla croce di rosso, con il capo di verde carico di una banda d'argento sovraccaricata di tre rose di rosso.
