Les armes de cette famille, ainsi décrites dans le manuscrit de la fin du XVIIème siècle, déjà plusieurs fos cité, sont timbrées d'un casque panaché, à demi tourné. Le nom de Villepontoux se voit inscrit dans les jugements des intendants de Bordeaux, pèriode de 1697 à 1718, portant maintenue de noblesse. Il se voit aussi dans la liste des votants pour les députés de la Noblesse de Périgueux aux Etats-Généraux de 1789. En janvier 1584 le roi avait anobli Simon Villepontoux, dit le capitaine Jaure, sergent major de Bergerac. Noble Jean, écuyer, seigneur de Jaure, fit enregistrer les lettres patentes, le 19 août 1634, au greffe de la cour des aides. Armes de cette famille: D'argent au lion de sable, armé et lampassé de gueules.
