Famiglia originaria del milanese, che compare già nei primi anni del sec. XI, con un Arialdo, tra le più cospique del patriziato cremasco, segnalatasi, nel XIV secolo in Crema, tra le più facoltose ed influenti. Investiti dal feudo capitaneale della pieve di Vimercate, parteggiarono per l'imperatore Enrico IV; presero poi parte in larga misura alla vita del comune di Milano, pur venendo sempre annoverati tra la feudalità vescovile. Pinamonte appare due volte console di Milano, nel 1171 (l'anno della riedificazione della città) e nel 1183. Il figlio Guido fu pure console di Milano (1192 e 1224), nonché podestà di Vicenza (1195) e di Bologna (1196). La famiglia è annoverata nel 1277 tra l'antica nobiltà milanese, da cui si dovevano scegliere i canonici ordinarî della chiesa. Assai prolifica, si divise in molti rami e, secondo una genealogia approvata dal R. Tribunale Civile e Correzionale di Milano, con sentenza 23 gennaio 1873,
