Non solamente ne' Regni di Spagna, e di Napoli, ma anche in Sicilia abbiamo ritrovato chiarissima la famiglia Virini, la quale nobilmente derivò d'un antico Barone Francese nominato Virini, Scudiero del Conte Ruggiero, il quale ufficio era il più degno, ed onorato di tutti gli altri, che allora nelle parti di Francia s'esercitava. Ne chiariscono ciò i nostri Santi Martiri Alfio, Filadelfo, e Virini che furono parimente Guasconi, e morirono in Sicilia in Leontini, nell'Impero di Decio, e sotto il governo di Tertillo, Presidente di Sicilia nel 252 del Signore: nati in Guascorgna di nobilissimo sangue. Di maniera che agevolmente si può comprendere, che da questo cavaliere avesse preso l'origine, ed il cognome insieme la famiglia Virini. Susseguente a questo leggiamo di Eustachio, che fu Capitano di giustizia della Provincia d'Abruzzo nel reggimento del Re buon Guglielmo, e dopo di Theobaldo, Camariero del Re Carlo d'Angiò, la cui figlia Giuliana
