Antica e assai nobile famiglia della Toscana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia, con insediamenti più cospicui nel milanese, e del Mondo. La famiglia ebbe principio nella città Firenze, alla cui cittadinanza fu ammessa nel quartiere di Santa Maria Novella, gonfalone Lion bianco. Nel corso del XVII secolo un ramo di essa passò in Fiesole. Ivi, con partito 1 dicembre 1843 la magistratura civica di Fiesole propose l'ascrizione al ceto nobile di quella città di Luigi Rinaldo, del fu podestà Paolo. Tale proposta fu accolta con rescritto granducale del 7 giugno 1844. La famiglia è dunque iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di nobile di Fiesole (mf). Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, sempre nel corso del XVII secolo, un altro ramo del casato era invece passato a risiedere in territorio lombardo e ivi i suoi esponenti si dedicarono con successo all'esercizio
