Questa famiglia è il ramo più insigne, discendente da Artuico, del fu Egano, vivente nel 1150, al quale si è accennato nell'articolo relativo agli stessi Venosta e che fu padre di quell'Eginone ricordato in un documento originale della chiesa di S.Eufemia dell'Isola Comacina dell'anno 1131, conservato nell'Archivio di Stato in Milano. Con Egano e con Gabardo, figli del predetto Eginone, di Artuico, di Egano, il ramo di Egano ebbe gran parte dei feudi delle valli di Mätsch e di Venosta; il ramo di Gabardo gran parte di quelli della Valtellina. Egan fu il capostipite della famiglia nota sotto il nome di conti di Mätsch, ora estinta, Gasbardo il capostipite del ramo valtellinese, e chiamato col nome di Venosa, sebbene abbia conservato per qualche tempo il cognome di Mätsch. Da Gabardo nacque Corrado, che fu podestà di Como della fazione ghibellina dei Rusconi contro Filippo Della Torre eletto dai Vitani. Corrado
