As famílias de Romei e Cortigiani vêm da família de 'V., chamada pelo vulgar Bisdomini di Fiorenza, de onde também vieram as famílias de Aliotti, Tosa e Tosinghi; portanto, falando da família De 'V. nos tempos antigos, chegamos à discussão dos Romeus hoje em Ferrara e na França e dos Cortigiani em Fiorenza, sendo o mesmo sangue. A família dos batentes V. dos mencionados Romei e Cortigiani é uma das famílias mais antigas e nobres de Fiorenza, a quem um príncipe recebeu um diploma em relação ao bispado desta cidade, da qual foi fundadora, como evidenciado por uma inscrição, e pelas Crônicas de Remember Malespini, nas quais lemos os V., os Tosinghi e os Courtesans são da mesma linhagem, e a partir disso foi fundado o Bispado de Fiorenza; Pietro Monaldi afirma o mesmo, Lorenzo Poggio, Lando Carducci, Giovanni Villani e outros escritores florentinos, que são muitos impressos e manuscritos,
