Antica ed assai nobile famiglia oriunda da Traetto, in Terra di Lavoro, ove risulta presente sin dal secolo decimo terzo, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Vito de Vito, nell'anno 1306, fu insignito “Magister hostiarius” da papa Clemente V. Il Casato, durante il periodo Angioino, fu obbligato a fornire ai sovrani un milite, ed in cambio ottenne alcune terre del circondario di Gaeta. Il ramo dei Piscicelli che si trasferì a Sessa Aurunca, nel XV secolo, si estinse nel 1726 a seguito di matrimonio celebrato nel 1684 tra Giulia Capece Piscicelli, ultima rappresentante del Casato, con Francesco de Vito; da allora i de Vito aggiunsero al loro cognome quello dei Piscicelli. Altra famiglia. Famiglia feudataria sin dal XVII secolo in Calabria, sulla terra di Caraffa, detta (de) Viti o (de) Vito, decorata del titolo di conte nel 1714, su decreto dell'imperatore Carlo
