Provém do mesmo tronco dos Fajardos e Ortigosas, todos da Galiza, de Santa Marta de Ortiguera, e as suas armas são iguais, apenas com diversidade do timbre da primeira para as duas últimas referídas. Em Espanha o apelido é Bivero e em Portugal, aonde passaram, parece terem usado Biveiro, Viveiro e Viveiros. Timbre: uma pêga de sua cor, com um ramo de ortiga no bico. Timbre: dois ramos de ortiga passados em aspa ou uma pega de sua cor com uma ramo de verde no bico. Os de Alenquer parece que usaram sempre o apelido no plural.
