Very ancient and noble family of whose origins there is no certain information, it is believed to be originally from the territory of Calabria and, over the centuries, propagated in different regions of Italy. In the memories of times gone by we read some variations of this surname, due to the usual causes of historical phonetics, dialect pronunciation and the way of interpreting surnames in the scripture, it is widely believed among heraldry scholars that the Vollera and the Vollaro are branches of a single strain. Of this family the cav. Pietro, born in Reggio Calabria in 1769 and died in Lucca in 1854. Author of the government of Gioacchino Murat exiled from Naples in 1815, where he was a criminal judge and took refuge in the Duchy of Lucca, where he contracted marriage with Elisabetta Bartolomei, widow Buccella and deserved the thanks of the duke Carlo Lodovico di Borbone
