Galvano Volpe, bravo caballero en Alemania, llamado De La Fux, por el antiquísimo escudo nobiliario de su linaje, vivió hacia el año 930 en Francovia, provincia oriental de Alemania, donde disfrutó del dominio del condado de Pempa, en su momento ciudad notable, y luego por el devenir de los siglos reducida a un menor recinto de murallas. Bartolomeo, tercer hijo del citado Galvano, fue capitán de caballería del emperador Otón, dejó en sus dos hermanos la antigua estirpe de Pempa y transportó su rama a Padua en el año 982 y luego a Treviso, y finalmente poco después del año 1000 estableció su residencia permanente en Vicenza, elevando su apellido al de Volpe. Galvano II fue enviado por Vicentini como embajador de Enrique V para asistir a su coronación imperial que siguió en Génova en el año 1111. Galvano VI fue embajador de Carlos IV en el año 1346.
