Bergamo family, who moved to Fiume and then to Venice. Giuseppe, n. in Venice on Nov. 19 1877, a rare example of activity and intelligence, made this family rise to its present splendor. It can be said that he is the renewal of the city of Venice, not only, but the rebuilder of the industrial Veneto. As plenipotentiary minister of SM Vittorio Emanuele II it is due to him more than anything else the peace treaty of Lausanne between Italy and Turkey; Governor of Tripolitania gave wonderful impulse to that colony; he was finance minister; he is senator of the kingdom and minister of state. With RD of motu proprio of SM Vittorio Emanuele III, King of Italy, of 6 March and RR.LL.PP. May 8, 1913 he was granted the title of nobleman for both sexes; subsequently with RD of motu proprio 23 dec. 1920 and RR.LL.P. February 24, 1921
