Ancient and noble German family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. According to what has been handed down, this noble house belongs to the nobility of Lower Saxony and originally was divided into six branches. There has been a bourgeois line since the 18th century. This family belonged to the ancient nobility of "Uradel", a term coined only in modern times, in reference to noble families whose ancestral lineage can be traced back to times before the late Middle Ages.
