Non è ben certo se, questa illustre ed antica famiglia, sia d'origine modenese. Alcuni (come il cronista abate Mazzali) ne indicano la provenienza in Castelnuovo Sotto (prov. di Reggio E.). Pare, infatti, che tra la fine del sec. XIII e il principio del XVIII, questa famiglia si occupasse dell'industria e del commercio della seta. Giuseppe Vorini, fu il primo della famiglia investito del titolo di conte di S. Bartolomeo, in Sassoforte (Villa del Comune di Reggio E.), con Decreto di Francesco III d'Este, duca di Modena, il 17 giugno 1758. Con sovrano chirografo dello stesso duca Francesco III, datato da Milano lì 21 dic. 1757, al detto conte Giuseppe venne conferito il titolo di cavaliere per se e suoi discendenti maschi, legittimi e naturali in infinito. Morì il 20 marzo 1762 di 56 anni, e fu sepolto nel Tempio monumentale della Madonna della Chiara. Il conte Francesco Vorini, figlio
